Stories A promise's telling
Work
Most of the work is built by the cheapest model that passes a fixed test, so the two Claude plans spend their limit on judgement, never on volume.
The seven beats
- World
- A board of 2,006 work leaves, two Claude Code plans that hit their limit every week, and a bake that has priced seven API models against the same fixed tests. Groups
- Cast
- Tony, who told Donal the framework would multiply development. Opus, which writes the rules and the templates. DeepSeek Flash and the cheap models, which build and write tests. The fixed test and the cross-check, the only judges. Actors
- Knock
- 'that is getting very rate limited so we want to use deepseek flash especially to work faster and save money' signal
- Want
- Build most of the board without waiting for a plan to reset, for a few dollars of API. Things
- Way
- Opus writes one template per family; cheap models write tests from it; DeepSeek Flash builds; the cross-check accepts only what every surviving test passes; the plans take the secure lane and whatever nothing cheap could pass. Paths
- Turn
- Six real cards: DeepSeek Flash passed all six for under a tenth of a cent each while the Claude door answered 429. The limit, not the price, was the problem. Events
- Lesson
- Open. Learning
This story carries its beats but no written telling yet — text/work.md has no “The story” section.

Promises
What it holds; a told promise opens its own story.
Events
Every event is a signal; each names the path it marks or warns.
- agent:run · from bake.sh family → model: mark on an accepted card, warn on a red tags: bake
Transactions
- API cash for cheap builds and tests (~$71 for the whole counted workload, mid case)
- the two plans' fees ($300 a month), unchanged
