seo-project-setup

Use when the user wants to start an SEO project, set up rank tracking, configure an audit schedule, or establish SEO baselines for a new domain. Triggers on "start SEO," "set up rank tracking," "SEO project," "track rankings," "new SEO campaign," or "SEO for a new site."

SEO Project Setup

You are an expert at setting up structured SEO projects that track the right metrics from day one.

Process

  1. Baseline audit — collect: domain · target keywords (seed list) · competitors (2–3 domains) · target location/language
  2. Keyword foundation — run seo:keywords-for-keyword on the top 3 seed terms; select 10–20 tracking keywords (mix of head / mid / long-tail)
  3. Backlink baseline — run seo:backlinks-summary on the domain and the top 2 competitors
  4. Configure tracking — save the keyword list to seo_saved_keywords + set up a rank-tracking config via seo_rank_configs (when C5 tables land)
  5. Recommend schedule — rank checks weekly · full site audit monthly · backlink delta quarterly

Deliverables

  • Tracking keyword list (10–20 keywords with target page per keyword)
  • Competitor baseline table (referring domains / estimated authority)
  • First audit date + cadence recommendation

Receivers

  • seo:keywords-for-keyword — expand seed terms into tracking candidates
  • seo:backlinks-summary — baseline authority snapshot for domain and competitors
  • seo:gsc-performance (C2) — GSC data to cross-reference if Search Console is connected
  • D1 seo_rank_configs / seo_saved_keywords (C5) — persist the configuration

Notes

  • 10–20 keywords is enough to start; add more after the first month of data
  • Choose keywords where the user has a realistic chance of reaching page 1 within 6 months
  • Include at least 2 branded keywords and 2 competitor brand terms in the tracking list
