"Tell a chapter of a course as a 60-second story film that plays live in the browser, with a voice-over and a Claude Code demo. Use when asked to make a lesson video, a chapter film, a teaching video, a course trailer, or 'turn this chapter into a film'. Writes the scene track (nine templates on a 2 s bar grid), the voice lines in Story Spine grammar, and the claims ledger."

Instructions

lesson-film — a chapter, told as a story, in sixty seconds

A lesson film is a story before it is a lesson. Someone wants something, something is
hard, and one thing changes. Then the film shows how, and hands the learner to the next
chapter. The worked example is the Hook film: text/hook-video.md (the script) and
one.ie/web/src/lib/playbook/lesson-film.ts (the same film as data).

The film obeys the chapter it teaches

  • Never open on a logo. Frame 0 is already the story. A visual pattern interrupt
    lands by 2 s.
  • Specific beats clever. One real line from the learner's world, not a category.
  • Every loop you open, close before the end card.
  • Every figure is a claim. Source it in the ledger, label it example, or leave it
out. A principle that carries an unsourced figure is withheld; arithmetic (1.1⁸ = 2.1)
stays and says it is arithmetic.
  • Hand off by name. The last scene names the next chapter and folds back to the first
    frame, so the film loops.

The grid

120 BPM: a beat is 0.5 s, a bar is 2 s. At most 30 bars (60 s). Every scene starts and
ends on a bar. The voice says each line a beat after its type lands.

The nine templates

Template Teaching role What it draws
feed open a whip-scrolling feed that freezes on the one card that matters
stat world dots for a rate, the source under it
chain explain the chapter's place in the chain of stages
parts explain the parts of the idea, stacking; a before line rewrites into an after line
grid explain a grid of options and the rung that picks one
terminal demo Claude Code: the learner types the stage's real starter, the stage's agent answers
race proof variants racing over days, labelled example test
match turn two lines that keep one promise, joined
handoff next Next: , folding back to frame 0

Transitions: cold (first only) · cut · dissolve · match · fade · whip · zoom.

The voice is the Story Spine

Every day… One day… Because of that… Because of that… Until finally… And ever since…
The spine is the one grammar that forces cause, so the lesson reads as a story and not a
list. One calm voice, a teacher across the table. Drop the pitch on full stops.

What to hand back

  1. The scene table: scene · bars · seconds · template · in by · what the screen does.
  2. The voice table: id · at · what the voice says · what the screen shows.
  3. The claims ledger: on screen · source · status (sourced · ours · real · example · withheld).
