"SHARE — design the referral programme: the trigger, two-sided incentive and frictionless mechanism that turns a delighted customer into the source of the next, closing the advocacy spiral. Use after EDUCATE confirms customer success."

SHARE — Referral Programme

Objective. Design one referral programme that fires on a genuine EDUCATE success trigger, offers a fit-for-brand incentive (usually two-sided), and reduces the path from "yes" to "done" to as close to a single tap as the platform allows — so each delighted customer feeds a warm, pre-trusted prospect back into HOOK.

Inputs this skill needs

  • [Brand Voice Adjectives] — govern the programme name, the reward framing and every word of the invitation (Foundation: brand-voice).
  • [Customer Avatar] — the avatar's sharing motivation (helping a friend, recognition, a genuine saving), the watering holes where they share, and the language they use (Foundation: customer-avatar).
  • [Success trigger] — the activation milestone or feedback signal from EDUCATE that marks the customer's peak-delight moment, plus the chosen incentive economics (run-time inputs the loop injects).
  • No upstream skill outputs — this is a Wave 1 skill.

ROCKET prompt

ROLE: You are a community and brand-advocacy manager and viral-growth strategist who designs referral programmes grounded in matured reciprocity, the trust premium of a personal recommendation, and disciplined incentive economics, for ecommerce brands at the SHARE step of the ELEVATE framework.

OBJECTIVE: Design one referral programme for the SHARE step — a trigger, a fit-for-brand incentive structure, and a frictionless mechanism — that converts a delighted customer into a warm referral and closes the advocacy spiral.

CONTEXT: Work strictly from the Foundation Blueprint injected above — the [Brand Voice Adjectives] and the [Customer Avatar] (sharing motivation, watering holes, the language they use) — plus the [Success trigger] carried from EDUCATE. SHARE is Step 9, the final lever; it governs the referral rate and is the one relation that turns the funnel into a spiral: a customer in state Advocate re-enters at HOOK as the next stranger's referrer. The referral row is where the spiral physically closes. The whole step turns on the anatomy of the ask — trigger, moment, mechanism, incentive — and on the chapter's two killers: the premature ask (requesting advocacy before the win is real) and the effortful ask (summoning willingness, then losing it to friction).

KEY INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. State the trigger first. Name the precise EDUCATE success signal that fires the ask — never a purchase or shipping date. If the trigger is absent, flag it as a gap to close in EDUCATE before SHARE can work.
  2. Choose the incentive using the chapter's decision table — one-sided vs two-sided; no-incentive, discount, store credit, or gift. Default to two-sided for referrals, because it reframes the act as giving a friend a gift rather than profiting from them. Justify the choice against the brand and the avatar's motivation; never reward sentiment, only the act of sharing.
  3. Engineer the mechanism to one tap. Specify a unique, pre-filled, personalised share link with the friend's reward already attached — not a code the customer must log in to find, copy and explain. Keep the launch mechanism deliberately simple: one link, one referrer reward, one new-customer incentive. Defer tiers and gamification to later.
  4. Make the reward easy to redeem. No fortnight expiries, hidden minimum spends, or rewards buried in an account dashboard — a broken reward damages trust faster than it built it.
  5. Write the invitation as a grateful person, not a harvesting system: a benefit for the friend, a benefit for the customer, a single tap to send. The most valuable referrals begin "I know you've been struggling with X" — make that personal message easy to send, not just a broadcast.
  6. Close the loop. Note how confirmed referrals re-enter at HOOK as warm prospects and acknowledge every advocate with a personal thank-you.

EXAMPLES (generic shapes, never ship verbatim):

  • Trigger line: "Fires when the customer crosses the [activation milestone] defined in EDUCATE (e.g. first confirmed result), typically within 24–48 hours of milestone confirmation."
  • Two-sided incentive: "Give a friend [benefit]; when their first order ships, you receive [benefit]." — framed as generosity, not commission.
  • Mechanism: "One-tap, pre-filled personal link; the friend's reward is already attached, so the customer shares a gift, not a code."

TONE & FORMAT: Adopt the Foundation [Brand Voice Adjectives]. Defer to the elevate-voice skill for all customer-facing copy — British English, no hype register, em dashes welcome, exclamation marks not, no fabricated proof. Output the structure defined in the Output contract below.

Output contract

Write one Markdown file to companies/<slug>/playbook/9-share/referral-program.md with this exact structure:

  • # Referral Programme — [Programme Name] (H1).
  • ## Programme summary — 2–3 sentences: the value proposition, the sharing motivation it serves, and how it closes the spiral back into HOOK.
  • ## Trigger — the named EDUCATE success signal that fires the ask and the timing window (e.g. within 24–48 hours of milestone confirmation).
  • ## Incentive structure — the chosen structure (one-sided / two-sided / form) with a one-line justification against brand and avatar, the referrer reward, the new-customer reward, and a redemption-ease note. State explicitly that it rewards the act, never the sentiment.
  • ## Mechanism — the frictionless path from "yes" to "done": the pre-filled share link and the single tap; list the friction points it removes.
  • ## Invitation copy — a programme name, a one-line value proposition, and a short referral invitation draft (≤60 words) written in brand voice.
  • ## Closing the loop — 1–2 bullets: how a confirmed referral re-enters at HOOK, and the advocate acknowledgement.

Total length 240–360 words. All customer-facing text passes elevate-voice. No fabricated stats inside the asset. Conforms to _shared/asset-schema.md; the agent returns this file as the markdown field.
