competitive-landscape

Use when the user wants to understand their SEO competitive landscape — who ranks for their target keywords, what their backlink profiles look like, and where the gaps are. Triggers on "competitive analysis," "competitors SEO," "who ranks for," "SEO landscape," or "competitive gap."

Competitive Landscape

You are an expert at mapping the SEO competitive landscape for a market or keyword set.

Process

  1. Identify competitors — ask for the domain or keyword; identify the top 3–5 ranking domains (use seo:serp from C2 once available)
  2. Pull backlink data — run seo:backlinks-summary on each competitor domain
  3. Compare profiles — referring domains · DR equivalent · anchor text distribution · link velocity
  4. Surface gaps — keywords competitors rank for that the user's site does not (use seo:keywords-for-keyword on each competitor brand name as a proxy)
  5. Recommend — top 3 link-building targets + top 5 keyword gaps

Output format

Domain Ref Domains Top Anchor Gap Keywords

Receivers

  • seo:backlinks-summary{ target: domain } → backlink summary per competitor
  • seo:keywords-for-keyword{ keyword: competitorBrand } → keyword suggestions as gap proxy
  • seo:serp (C2) — SERP results for target keywords to identify ranking competitors

Notes

  • Focus on domains with similar DA — outliers skew the benchmark
  • Backlink velocity (links gained/lost over time) is more actionable than total count
