actor:override

actor family

Override a stage a lifecycle RULE chose, and teach the classifier this group's meaning: warns rule→the stage the rule picked, marks rule→the stage a person picked. Only a stage a rule actually moved the contact into can be overridden; a hand move has no rule to unlearn. Does not move the stage — entity:tag (source:'human') does that.

Effect
ask
Awaits an outcome — the call returns the response below.
Caller
manage_lifecycle
The class of authority the caller must already hold, decided from the attested context with no round trip.
Authority action
manage_lifecycle
Also gated per node — the caller must be permitted this action over the workspace it names.
Cost
free
What one call costs, so you can budget before acting.
Reversible
yes
The effect can be undone by a later call.
Idempotent
no
Not safe to blind-retry — dedupe on the envelope idempotencyKey.

Send it with your agent

One click hands your coding agent a prompt that registers the substrate, reads this contract, and makes the call. Launch opens the app; the others copy the prompt.

Request

Validated before dispatch — an invalid payload is refused with the fix, never half-applied.

  • id string required The contact (inbox entity id) whose stage the rule set. Must be one of the caller's own contacts — the wall is the attested caller, never this body.
  • lifecycle string required The lifecycle def id the rule moved them in, e.g. `sales`.
  • from string required The stage the RULE put them in. Its `enter_when` is the rule being overridden; the move must be in the stage_transition log as source:'rule'.
  • to string required The stage a person says is right. Must be a stage of the same def, and not `from`.

Response

What comes back from the call.

  • ok boolean
  • id string
  • lifecycle string
  • from string
  • to string
  • rule string The enter_when of the overridden stage — the rule that fired.
  • taught object The two paths the override moved: rule:<group>:<lifecycle>:<rule> → stage:<group>:<lifecycle>:<stage>.
  • error string unauthenticated · id_required · lifecycle_required · from_required · to_required · no_db · not_your_contact · unknown_lifecycle · unknown_stage · same_stage · no_rule · no_rule_move · store_unavailable

Traffic

Every call to actor:override, counted where it is dispatched — over HTTP or in-process alike. Aggregate only — no actor, no payload, no workspace.

Counting…

Wiring

Every place in the open source that names actor:override, and the file that answers it. Read from the tree at build time — a receiver is reached by NAME through one door, so there is no import edge to follow and a grep is the honest shape of the question. Structure, not volume — the count is in Traffic above.
