Cross-posting has a dirty secret: it lets the strictest network write your copy for every network. You compose with X’s character limit in the back of your mind, and LinkedIn gets a tweet in a suit. Instagram gets a caption with no reel behind it. The idea was good; the formats flattened it.
That’s what we shipped against today. In ONE, you write the master message once — the idea, at full strength — and then refine it into each network’s native format.
What “native” actually means
Each network has formats it rewards and formats it merely tolerates. A catalog in ONE now knows the difference:
- X — post, thread, poll
- LinkedIn — post, article, document, poll
- Instagram — post, carousel, reel, story
- Facebook — post, reel, story, video
- TikTok — video, carousel
Hit Refine for every network and each target gets its own draft in its own tab: a hook-first reel script for Instagram, numbered parts for an X thread, slides for a carousel, a professional long post for LinkedIn. Each tab has its own character bar, media checks, and preview — a 9:16 reel with a landscape video gets rejected before it ever reaches the network, not after.
Approve each version on its own
The drafts are independent. Edit the thread without touching the reel. Approve the reel while the LinkedIn draft is still weak. Nothing publishes until you’ve approved that specific variant, and one slow draft never holds the rest hostage.
When the scheduled time comes, each approved variant publishes through its format’s real endpoint — the reel as a reel, the thread as a chained sequence, the carousel as a carousel — and each records its own live link.
Honest about the edges
Not every format has a working door on every platform’s API. Where one doesn’t, the draft is marked skipped, copy out — the content is ready and labeled, and you post it by hand. What we won’t do is silently drop it and let you believe it went out. Every variant ends in a state you can see: published with a link, skipped with a reason, or failed with an error.
And if you never touch any of this? Your posts behave exactly as they did yesterday. A post without variants publishes on the same path it always has. The feature only exists when you reach for it.
Why this matters
The networks have been telling everyone the same thing for years: native formats get the reach. Reels over links. Threads over screenshots. Carousels over captions. Everyone knows it; almost nobody does it, because doing it means rewriting every idea four times, by hand, in four apps.
Now the rewrite is one click, the review is per-network, and the publish is native. The idea stays at full strength on every platform it lands on — which was the point of writing it down in the first place.
